The Short Answer
The beach, the marabout and the sunset are free. Your main costs are getting there, food and drinks, and any activity you choose. Transport and activities make the biggest difference to your budget.
We only give amounts that we can source. Prices change, so always confirm them on the day.
Transport
Transport is usually the first cost. The options, from cheapest to most expensive, are roughly:
- Local bus from Essaouira. The travel blog Along Dusty Roads reported a fare of 8 MAD per person in October 2024.
- Shared grand taxi. The same source reported about 15 MAD per seat.
- Private grand taxi for the whole car: about 100 MAD reported by the same source. Prices are negotiated.
- Hire car or private transfer, priced by the company.
Remember to budget for the return journey too. More in how to get there.
Food and Drinks
Food in Sidi Kaouki is simple and Moroccan: mint tea, fresh juice, omelettes, salads, tagine and grilled fish. Prices depend on the café or restaurant, and there are only a few places to choose from. Expect to pay more if you eat at a guesthouse that cooks for you, and less for tea and a snack at a small café.
- Bring water and snacks if you plan a long beach walk.
- Ask the price before ordering fish, which is often priced by weight or by the day's catch.
- Check whether a service charge is included.

Activities
An activity is usually the biggest single cost of the day. Prices depend on the provider, the length, whether it is private or shared, and the season. Each of our activity pages shows the options, and we send you current prices when you ask:

Costs People Forget
- The return taxi, especially in the evening
- Tips for guides, instructors and café staff
- Sun cream, water and snacks, which are easier to buy in Essaouira
- Parking, if you drive
Three Ways to Plan Your Day
| Style | Typical choices |
|---|---|
| Low budget | Bus or shared taxi, beach walk, tea and a simple lunch |
| Mid-range | Shared or private taxi, lunch at a café, one guided activity |
| Comfort | Private transfer or hire car, a private lesson or ride, dinner before returning |
Bring Cash
Cards are not accepted everywhere, and you should not count on a cash machine in the village. Bring enough cash in small notes from Essaouira. For more practical advice, read what to know before visiting.
